LIFE CYCLE OF MOSQUITO #02
Hello Reader today we are going to discuss about the very interesting creature which exist every where in the world and has also trouble the most of the population and every one has been troubled by this insect is "MOSQUITO". So without wasting the time lets move to our topic, Life Cycle of Mosquito.
Basically Like all flies, mosquitoes go through four distinct stages in their life cycles and they are as follows;
- Egg
- Larva
- Pupa
- Adult
HOW THEY BREED?
Most of the species the female mosquito lays their eggs in the stagnant water (the water which is not flowing or stopped water),near water's edge and attach to the aquatic plants.
1. EGGS: Mosquitoes lays eggs mostly everyone knows and they lay eggs in the surface of water, alongs its edge, in tree holes or in the areas that are prone to flooding rain, irrigation and sometimes they lay eggs in the dry place the eggs remain in dormant form (deep sleep) until the proper favorable developing environnment occurs. This eggs which is in dormant form can stay for several year until the ideal natural hatching conditions are met. Females mosquito of many common species can lay 100-200 eggs during the course of adult phase of their life cycles. A single successfull breeding pair can create a population of thousands.

2. LARVA: Once mosquito egg hatches the larval stage begins. The larvae of the mosquito species hangs suspended to the water surface because they need air to breath. The mosquito larvae has a well developed head with mouth brushes for feeding, a large thorax (midsection of the insects body) with no legs, and a segmented abdomen which is also known as a siphon which is the breathing tube for larva and helps to stay alive. Larvae feed on the bacteria, algae and other microbes in the surface layer. Whenever larvae feels danger they dive into the deep side of the water and returns to the surface when everthing gets normalize. Coquillettidia and Mansonia larvae attach to plants to obtain their air supply. Due to the Alphabetic character "S" they have earned name as "wigglers" or "wrigglers". Larva has four stage of development, in which they take time for develop between 4 to 14 days. At the end of each instar, the larvae molt, shedding their skins to allow for further growth and after this stage completed the pupa stage begins.
3. PUPA: The shape of pupa is like symbol "comma" shape. Pupa stage is non-feeding stage and it is also the stage of development. During this time it is very sensitive to light and shadow and also react same as larvae for defensive state it undergoes deeper in water and when the it feels the safe comes at surface. At this stage they only breathe and converts into adult mosquito within 1½ to 4 days.
4. ADULT: The newly emerged adult rests on the surface of the water for a short time to allow itself to dry and all its body parts to harden. The wings have to spread out and dry properly before it can fly. Blood feeding and mating does not occur for a couple of days after the adults emerge. The period of development from egg to adult varies among species and is strongly effect by ambient temperature. Some species of mosquitoes can develop from egg to adult in as few as five days, but a more typical period of development in tropical conditions would be some 40 days or more for most species. The variation of the body size in adult mosquitoes depends on the density of the larval population and food supply within the breeding water.
Male emerge faster than female mosquito and survive less than female. The life of male mosquito as an average of 5-7 days. Females with an adequate food supply can live up to 5 months or longer, with the average female life span being about 6 weeks. After obtaining a full blood meal, the female will rest for a few days while the blood is digested and eggs are developed. This process depends on the tempeerature, but usually takes 2-3 days in tropical conditions. Once the eggs are fully developed, the female lays them. This cycle repeats until the female dies.
CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE LEARNED A LIFE PROCESS OF MOSQUITO
